The Symarip Pyramids "Skinhead Moonstomp Tour" The Symarip – Pyramids, were formed in the mid-sixties by Frank Pitter & Mike Thomas. Six young British-based musicians of West Indian descent. A Ska & Rock Steady band, although they began their career as a straight "pop" group, consisting of founders Frank Pitter & Michael Thomas and another musicians.
The group was signed to President Records, Then came the monster hit "Train Tour To Rainbow City", a chugging piece written and produced by Eddy Grant, which ran through many of the period's most popular records and bore a close resemblance to Prince Buster's "Train To Girls Town". The Symarip-Pyramids soon captured the imagination of the new skinhead audience with, “Skinhead Moonstomp” “Skinhead Jamboree” “Mosquito Bite” a sort of patois styled parody complete with monkey, goat and bull frog noises. Followed by “All Change On The Bakerloo Line” which led to many television appearances, throughout Europe.
“Holidays By The Sea” a perfectly encapsulates the era, along with saucy postcards and “kiss Me Quick”. Symarip is widely marked as the first skinhead band, the last album of The Pyramids/Symarip was ‘Drunk and Disorderly’ which was released in 1985 (Ariola, 1985).
The Band is currently back from the Moon & planning a forthcoming “Skinhead Moonstomp Tour “ - 2008/9 Tour!
